The July Krewe social gathering “Fun with the Floats” will be going to Louisiana Downs on July 19th.  The event is a monthly gathering where members come together for good fun, good food, and great fellowship.  The fun will begin at 12:00 noon with the first race at 1:30 p.m.

Krewe of Gemini announced on Saturday its theme and the possible float themes for Gemini Remembers the 80’s.  Go to the Krewe of Gemini web page and go parade/float theme link located on the left side of the page.

At the May, 2008 general membership meeting the approval of the Associate Membership was passed with overwhelming support.  This membership classification was developed with the recent college graduates and newly wedds in mind.  To get the full details of the membership classification go to the Membership Page of the web site. 

Also a new classification of membership was established for those that want the priviledge of membership, yet are not interested in riding.  This can also be found on the Membership Page of the Krewe of Gemini web site.

The Krewe of Gemini and their friends and supporters gathered on Saturday, June 28, 2008 for their annual Theme Announcement at the Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino Ballroom.  After an hour of fellowship and catching up on the news the evening began with a buffet dinner that included fried chicken and peach cobbler.

After everyone got their fill of good food.  Captain Chris Stansell took the stage to announce Gemini’s Theme of their 20th Annual Original Parade.  This years theme is “Gemini Remembers the 80’s.”  The themes depict important events of music, movies, and television that came about during the 1980’s.  Some of the themes include Superman, ESPN, The Village People, and Top Gun.

After the announcement of the themes the “Molly Ringwald’s” played music from the 80’s.  The dance floor was packed for 3 1/2 hours as the band never took a break and played till the party was over at 11:30 p.m.

Suprise guest was a group of about 8 men from Barksdale Air Force Base, whom just returned from duty in Guam earlier in the week.  The band recognized the group and they were met with applause and many of the members expressed their sincere thanks to the young men for their service.

Publicity Chairman John Manno announced that the Krewe of Gemini web site (www.kreweofgemini.com) is in the process of redesign work.  Some of the improvements will be the ability to print out the membership listing in a variety of sort methods.  Including in the improvements is the development of a more interactive calendar, more pictures from events during the year.

Captain Chris Stansell has assumed the role of Captain of the Krewe of Gemini for the celebration of their 20th Anniversary.

Chris was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  He has been living in Louisiana for 33 years now.  Chris and his beautiful wife, Mary Louise, have been married for twelve years.  He is the father of 10 yr old daughter, Kristie, 7 yr old son, Christopher, and 16 yr old stepdaughter, Whitney.  

Chris is a graduate of Southwood High School and Louisiana Tech University, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.  Chris owns and operates Crank It Up Wholesale and co-owner of Independence Motor Company.  Chris has been a member of the Krewe of Gemini for six years.  He has served on the Board of Directors, been Co - Captain of Finance, Duke of Texas XVII, and now taking reign as Captain Gemini XX.

Be on the look out for news regarding the Krewe of Gemini.  Theme Announcement is scheduled for June 28, 2008 at Sam’s Town Casino and Hotel.  Dress is biker and we are not talking “Toure De France” biker.  Music will be provided by the Molly Ringwalds.  Call the Krewe for more information
